BITS Alumnus Vijay Bajaj (’80) donates to the Department of CCTV

Realizing the need for more sophisticated video recording infrastructure in Pilani, BITS Alumnus Vijay Bajaj (1980-84) made a donation of $7000 to the Department of CCTV to purchase advance video cameras and other related equipment. The donation was made in memory of Mr. Rajendra Kumar Sahgal and this helped the Department of CCTV to purchase a technologically advanced camera which significantly eased the current process of recording videos in the Pilani campus and reduced delivery times.

Earlier, the CCTV department had to digitize and convert each video which was taken on borrowed cameras and the videos were of inferior quality. Thanks to Mr. Vijay Bajaj’s donation, this new investment greatly improved the efficiency of the CCTV department and the quality of the videos is a visual treat.

Nitin Ganahar from the CCTV Department noted that “The camera was used during Oasis 2011 and the improvement in the quality of the videos and the short time for their delivery was noticed by everyone on campus”. A couple of YouTube videos taken using the new equipment :

Other BITSians who drove this initiative to completion include Arun Aravind (’97 Batch and COO-BITSAA International), Vijay Sharma (2006 Batch), Nitin Gangahar (CCTV Department), Kaushik Subramanian (2001 Batch) and Govindam Yadav (2008 Batch and Student Union President)

The Student Union of BITS Pilani, the Department of CCTV and the BITSAA community greatly appreciate Mr. Vijay’s contribution and hope that this step will inspire future BITSians and other alumni to step in and contribute to various infrastructure development initiatives in the various BITS campuses. It is only due to alumni contributions of this type which will help our alma mater to continue offering future batches of BITSians superior quality of life and excellent academic infrastructure.
