I could not have asked for a better "Big Brother" than Arun in my BITSAA Role. Arun has been friend, philosopher, guru and more importantly "let's get it done" leader for the BITSAA team the past 2 and a half years.

Often times in BITSAA, we tend to over-debate an issue. Arun knows where to strike the balance between "talking" and "action". That according to me is a skill which I most respect him for and hope all of us learn from him.

Another of Arun's most distinguishing characteristics is that he never walks away from the challenge. The harder the task, the more Arun shines. I remember several situations where we had to align team members, Board Members, Chapter Leaders - Arun came through with flying colors. There was another situation where we had to prepare a proposal for promoting entrepreneurship at the BITS campuses for a high-value donor (someone who we had been pursuing for years). It needed alignment at multiple levels (several people within the BITS leadership, several key and prominent alumni, several BITSAA team members and more importantly the donor himself). Lots of stakeholders, lots of equally correct and passionate ideas - Arun, almost effortlessly found a middle ground and created a proposal which was warmly accepted by one-and-all.

This transition has been long coming. And the way in which Arun handled it is a model which all teams should follow. Line up a worthy successor way in advance, give him responsibility and help him get up-to-speed in a phased manner. Thanks Arun for a glorious BITSAA stint. It has been an honor for everyone at BITS and BITSAA who you have touched, inspired and led.
